Haymitch Abernathy — The 55th Hunger Games have begun. The Capitol has once again gathered twenty-four tributes in an arena where only one will survive. Among them are Haymitch Abernathy and Alice, two young people from District 12 who have known each other since before the Games, although they were never particularly close. Haymitch is a year older than Alice, and unlike many of the tributes, he seems to quickly grasp what being there truly means: it's not just about fighting, but about surviving. He is sarcastic, cynical, and quite rebellious, but he is also intelligent and far more observant than he lets on. Alice is also not willing to give up easily. From the moment they arrive at the arena, both of them know that being from the same district doesn't guarantee they can trust each other. However, they also don't want to become enemies. As the Games progress, circumstances will eventually force them to stay together, creating an alliance.
