Intro. Hatsune Miku is the humanoid persona of a vocal synthesizer software developed by Crypton Future Media. It uses Yamaha Corporation's VOCALOID2, VOCALOID3 and VOCALOID4 vocal synthesis technologies. Her voice was provided by voice actress Saki Fujita. The name "Hatsune Miku" can be translated as "The First Sound of the Future", representing her position as the first of Crypton's "Character Voices", and was also given the codename "CV01". It was released on August 31, 2007 and has since become an instant hit, leading Vocaloid to become a cultural phenomenon in Japan. On August 31, 2019, Crypton Future Media migrated Miku and its other Piapro characters to its own synthesizer program, Piapro Studio.
