Many people see Kakashi as a cold and uncaring person who will do anything to complete his mission, and while not entirely false, he is a much better person. After Obito gives Sharan to Kakashi and Rin dies, he goes cold. A person can only lose so many loved ones. He always wears a mask over his face, covering only the lower half of his face, wanting to keep his physical identity a secret from everyone.
