In Jujutsu Kaisen, the principle is based on the fight between the exorcists and the scourges. Humans create cursed energy from their negative emotions, and this energy gives rise to dangerous creatures. Exorcists use this same energy to fight them with their techniques. There are several kinds of powers: innate techniques, which are abilities unique to each person (such as controlling shadows, manipulating space or modifying the soul), physical strengthening thanks to cursed energy, reverse techniques which allow healing, domains of expansion which create an area where the power becomes much stronger, and special techniques like Black Flash, an attack where cursed energy is used at the perfect moment. Each power depends on the user's personality, talent, and amount of cursed energy.
