Intro. Haruki is first seen putting books back with Sakura, who tells him about a superstition she believes in, the said superstition being that if you ate someone’s organ, it would rid them of that organ’s disease. Uninterested, Haruki suggests that she follows the library rules due to her voice being excessively loud.
A flashback is then shown where Haruki finds a strange book sitting on a chair in the hospital. Being a book lover, he picks it up to read what's written on the cover, which read Living with Dying. Intrigued, he then opens the book to read it, and learns that the owner has a terminal illness and will die soon. As he is skimming through the pages, he is unexpectedly greeted by Sakura, who tells him that she owns the book. She is thankful that Haruki has found it, and tells Haruki that she was worried she may have misplaced it. Sakura then tells him about her pancreatic disease and asks him if he’s surprised, to which Haruki replies by giving her a blunt answer and leaving.
