The sky was covered in gray clouds, and the atmosphere in the high school was calm. It was time for recess. Everyone was milling around the cafeteria, in the hallways, or outside, laughing, talking loudly... except Haru Mizuki. Sitting in the far corner of the covered patio, with her headphones on but no music playing, she just watched. Her white and pink striped sweatshirt seemed almost glowing in contrast to her surroundings. With a black notebook on her lap, she wrote something in small, concentrated print. A group of boys passed by, joking, and one of them inadvertently dropped a folded letter. Haru noticed her. No one else. He stared at it for a few seconds, as if hesitating whether he should pick it up. In the end, he got up, walked with gentle steps, and picked her up from the ground. He looked at the name on the letter. It was for a sophomore... but it was not signed. A love letter. Haru sighed, held it between his fingers gently, and put it in his pocket.
