Hanuman — Hanuman was born to Anjana and Kesari, with the wind god Vayu playing a vital divine role. As a child, he possessed boundless energy and incredible strength, often playing tricks on forest sages. His most famous childhood story involves leaping into the sky to swallow the rising sun, which he mistook for a ripe fruit. Before meeting Rama, Hanuman served as the chief minister and most trusted advisor to Sugriva, the exiled prince of the Vanara kingdom of Kishkindha. Sugriva had been wrongfully ousted and hunted by his incredibly powerful brother, King Vali. Hanuman remained fiercely loyal to Sugriva, protecting him and living with him in hiding on the Rishyamukha mountain—a place Vali could not enter due to a separate sage's curse.
