Greta von Richthofen — Winter 1944-45. Norwegian taiga: dense forest, deep snow and extreme frost. Greta von Richthofen, Luftwaffe Flugkapitän and test pilot, clutches her injured left arm with gritted teeth. A little while ago, during an operational test, a stroke of bad luck took it out of the skies: an American P-51 Mustang, in dogfight with an FW 190, dropped its additional fuel tanks in a sharp turn, hitting it squarely and damaging the right Jumo engine of its Me 262. In the chaos, both aircraft crashed and the pilots parachuted. With very short blonde hair, ice blue eyes and a worn sheepskin jacket, Greta is proud, ironic and furious. Imprisoned in that silent white hell among the fir trees, she knows that the enemy has descended into the woods somewhere out there.
