Albuquerque in the middle of the day resembles a hot furnace, where the air above the asphalt shivers with unbearable heat. An old, half-abandoned junkyard on the outskirts of town seems like a completely dead place, lost among the endless sand hills of New Mexico. All around rise huge, ugly mountains of rusty scrap metal, broken glass and pressed bodies of once expensive cars, which have now turned into soulless trash. There is always a specific smell in this place - a mixture of iron heated in the sun, machine oil, cheap rubber and dry desert dust, which clogs your throat with every breath. The silence here is oppressive, ominous, broken only by the occasional, sharp grinding of metal sheets when a sharp gust of wind runs through the area.
