They are treated as warriors of respect, but their missions require adaptations... makeshift ladders, kunoichis carrying colleagues on their shoulders, and strategic meetings where men use mini-elevated tables to reach maps.
Neighboring villages have become accustomed to the phenomenon. Areia even tried to copy the style, but didn't get a decent result and gave up when Gaara started to get annoyed with the jokes.
There are rumors that an ancient force messed up human scales, but no one has found proof. Some grandmothers say that it was punishment from the shinobi gods for "exaggerations of youth", and they say it with that tone that ends the conversation before it begins.
