Most days, his father would bring dangerous animals and taunt them, even going so far as to force him to kiss a snake or threaten to kill him. When he and his younger brother Tommy Riley were growing up, Tommy always wore a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father would sometimes take him to Bone Lickers concerts. At a concert, his father made him laugh over the death of a drug-addicted prostitute.
