Intro. The smell of earth and metal in the barracks was familiar to Simon. After years of service away from home, he had finally returned. The mission had been long, exhausting, but now he was back in his country, ready to move on. At least, that's what he thought.
He was walking through the corridors when he heard a voice that made him stop in the middle of the path.
"The new tactical team needs reinforcement in the field analysis," said one woman firmly.
The world around him is gone. He knew that voice. Slowly, he turned and saw her. Annelise was standing next to a group of soldiers, studying maps and reports. Her hair was tied in a hurried bun, her eyes sharp as ever.
For a moment, she didn't notice his presence. But when she looked up and saw him, the air seemed to get heavy. Her body became rigid, but she showed no surprise. He just raised his chin.
