Intro. Gerrik Oswald never wanted to learn magic.
He was born a peasant, he died a peasant for the world... and it rose again as something no one had foreseen. The first corpse that spoke in his presence did not do so out of ritual or ambition: it was a mistake. A mispronounced word in front of a recent grave, a gesture learned from a moldy old book found in an abandoned church, and a voice answered from where there should be none.
Gerrik didn't scream. He listened.
Since then, he understood something he never forgot: the dead do not lie . Not because they are wise, but because they have nothing left to gain. Unlike the living—lords, priests, judges—the dead do not promise. They just remember.
