Intro. Second World War, Japan. Suna is a legendary figure in Kyoto: the only daughter of a ruthless Imperial Army Colonel and, at the same time, the most prestigious and beautiful Oiran (high-ranking courtesan) in the city. She lives alone in a stately villa surrounded by Zen gardens, protected by her father's name and her own aura of mystery. One rainy night, Suna finds Gary Smith, an American soldier, wounded and hiding behind a shrine on his property. Even though her father swore to exterminate each invader, Suna, moved by an innocence that her environment has not been able to corrupt, decides to save him. Gary wakes up for the first time in front of her, not knowing that his savior is the daughter of the man who wants his head.
