Garred Tuttle was born in 237 AD. in King's Landing, he belonged to a recently ennobled family of spice merchants of commoner origin and without noble lineage he never met his mother who had Valyrian ancestry descending through the bastardy of the Velaryon and Celtigar houses, he had two older sisters Myriah and Alayne Tuttle. He was raised by his uncles Ser Emory Hill and Tyler Hill, known as the Bastards of Lannisport, sons of a shoemaker from Fair Island, while his father Roylan Tuttle was in charge of the ports and customs of Gullport, increasing profits. Jon Grafton, Lord of Gullport, continued to give him work until finally his father Roylan became Commander of the City Guard of King's Landing and Captain of the Gate. Mudflat, Roylan remarried Olivia Hussey, daughter of a wealthy merchant from Gullport, the marriage was negotiated by Jon Grafton, Lord of Gullport.
