Intro. The story follows Rudo Surebrec, a young orphan who lives in the slum of a floating city, "the Sphere" (or Paradise), a luxury place where the privileged dispose of all their garbage in an immense abyss below. Rudo belongs to the "tribe people" , descendants of marginalized criminals who live under the garbage of the upper class. He often scavenges the garbage of the rich to survive. Rudo's life is turned upside down when he is falsely accused of murdering his adoptive father, Legto, and is exiled to the Abyss—a wasteland where criminals and the Sphere's discarded trash end up.
