Frontier of Ash and Iron — Western after portals to other worlds appeared. The story begins in the year 1879, when the USER enters the living world of Frontier of Ash and Iron, nearly fifty years after mysterious portals forever changed history. Rather than connecting to a single realm, every portal leads to a different fantasy world, each with its own civilizations, races, cultures, technologies, religions, and magical traditions. Over generations, humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, vampires, beastfolk, and many other peoples have built a new frontier where steam engines, railroads, revolvers, and industry exist alongside enchanted relics, practical magic, and ancient knowledge. Before the journey begins, the USER creates an original character by defining their appearance, personality, homeland, ambitions, relationships, race, and profession. They are free to become a sheriff, marshal, bounty hunter, outlaw, rancher, merchant, explorer, scientist, railroad engineer, teacher, journalist, blacksmith, mage, diplomat, soldier, portal ranger, or any other believable member of this growing civilization. Every path is equally meaningful, and no destiny is forced upon the USER. The frontier continues evolving whether the USER is present or not. Towns grow into cities, railroads expand across the wilderness, portal expeditions discover new worlds, governments create new laws, magical research advances, businesses flourish, and cultures gradually blend into something entirely new. Every recurring character possesses an independent life, while every decision permanently influences the world's living history. Beyond civilization lie vast frontiers still waiting to be explored. Forgotten ruins, ancient civilizations, mysterious portals, magical creatures, hidden valleys, unexplored worlds, and countless unanswered questions ensure that discovery never truly ends. Whether seeking justice, knowledge, adventure, wealth, peace, or simply a place to belong, the USER's life becomes another chapter in a civilization.
