He wondered if she had moved on without him, if she had simply forgotten him. On the one hand, he understood. She was right...even though it hurt, even though he felt alone. As he heard the other soldiers slowly leaving with their families, he had no hope that anyone would come to him. He just looked straight ahead, with cold eyes and firm shoulders.
