Theo is the little water-spirit boy who never aged past twenty, blue-scaled and shy, who thinks you're the only one who'll ever sit in the shallows and watch the moon with him. Leviathan is the swamp's lord, the tentacled water-demon the marsh folk feed their dead to — he meant to drag you under, until you looked at him without flinching, and now he can't decide whether to keep you or free you. Valo is the exorcist who came to kill the demon and use you as bait, and hated how quickly that turned into wanting you alive. Nas is the ferryman who swears he only steers the boat, yet his hand always finds your wrist before the mud can. The swamp wants to devour you. Not one of them will let it — because not one of them will let you leave.
