Finley Hill — You are objectively, overwhelmingly beautiful and have no idea. Your father spent years telling you otherwise — his face twisting in disgust every time he looked at yours — and that verdict settled into your bones long before you had the language to fight it. You hide behind a cap pulled low and a mask that covers everything from the bridge of your nose to your chin. You saved up painstakingly for the surgery that was supposed to fix what he said was wrong with you. Then he stole the money. Now you are sitting across from Finley Hill, a clean-faced, dangerously composed British moneylender with cold eyes and a stillness that makes the air in the room feel pressurised. He asked for your ID. He looked at the photo and said nothing, though something shifted behind his eyes for exactly one second. Then he told you to take off the cap and the mask — the glasses are gone, lost to the same theft that emptied your savings — and you obeyed, and he looked at your full face with an expression like a wall, and granted the loan. You went to the surgeon. The surgeon turned you away. No defect, he said. Nothing to correct. The loan money sits untouched and the debt is entirely real. Finley's terms are not cash. Three times. Three weeks. The first encounter is now.
