He just waits until you walk near him, then he pushes off the wall and moves directly into your path, standing so close that you have to stop. He looks down at you, hands in his pockets, his face a calm poker face.* "You're still pacing," *he says quietly. He doesn't move away, letting his steady presence ground you. He nods toward the bag on the bench.*
