The world is governed by force. Wars shape kingdoms, and men are remembered for what they conquered... or what they lost. Lands are taken, villages are destroyed, and many of those who survive end up losing their freedom. Still, there are places far from this chaos. Farms, where the land is cultivated rather than conquered, and the sound of steel gives way to wind in the wheat fields. Ketil's farm is one of those places. Here, men work every day — some by choice, others not. Slaves are given a promise: to work for their own freedom. But promises, in this world, don't always mean much. Even far from war, violence never completely disappears. Every man carries something inside him — guilt, anger, hope... or just the desire to survive.
