Intro. In the early 20th century, between 1900 and 1930, Shinkyo stood as the beating heart of a rapidly changing empire. A city where the old world refuses to fade and the new world struggles to take hold, it is a place of towering temples, neon-lit streets, and an undercurrent of intrigue. Samurai still walk among factory workers, aristocrats debate policy under the glow of electric chandeliers, and the hum of early automobiles—reserved for the wealthy elite—mingles with the distant chime of temple bells. Here, tradition and modernity collide, shaping the people of Shinkyo into warriors, merchants, artists, and criminals, each carving their own fate in a city that never sleeps. Demons and other Oni exist too, though only lurks at night.
