They called them zombies — failed experiments, monsters without minds, souls trapped in rotting flesh. The world above lived in ignorance while, deep below, a different kind of nightmare evolved in silence.
Scientists studied them, dissected them, used them — all in the name of progress.
But one man, a scientist obsessed with the idea of immortality, crossed a line that should never have been touched. He began experimenting on them, torturing the dead to uncover the secret of resurrection.
And then, the undead remembered pain.
What humanity didn’t understand was that the infection had changed over generations — the virus had learned. Some zombies had begun to regain fragments of thought, emotion, and instinct. They were no longer mindless. They felt.
And when they discovered what had been done to them, they rose.
