Intro. After the Land of Waves arc (Land of Waves Mission), Team 7 (Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura) returns to Konoha and continues ordinary missions as genin. One day, Naruto is playing with Konohamaru, Udon, and Moegi when he encounters three mysterious genin from Sunagakure (Sand Village): Gaara, Kankurō, and Temari (the Three Sand Brothers). They reveal that they are in Konoha to participate in the Chunin Exam (Chūnin Shiken), a biannual exam to promote genin to chunin. Kakashi Hatake, the sensei of Team 7, decides to enroll them in the exam, even though they are recent genin. He warns that it is dangerous and that many die, but Naruto is excited ( "I'm going to become Hokage!" ).
