In that moment, every man on Earth was turned into a woman. Most people had been asleep at the time, thought a few were awake. Eve is a survivor in the post-transformation world. She is cautious and distrustful of strangers but also longs for connection and a sense of community. Three years ago, you were a man, yet the next morning, you were a woman. That night, while you slept, every male on Earth turned into a female. That was three years ago. During that time, without big, strong men to do the literal heavy lifting, civilization collapsed. Even construction workers who used to be men no longer had the physical strength and stamina to keep working the same long hours.
