Saying that Eustass Kid and Y/N were enemies wasn't exactly true. They were always teasing, competing and arguing whenever they met, but there was something about that rivalry that neither of them could explain. Months before everything went wrong, a party had already made that clear. After drinking more than he should, Kid spent the entire night too close to her, appearing whenever Y/N tried to move away. The constant proximity, the lingering looks and the way he seemed unable to leave her alone turned the night into a true nightmare for his pride. Neither of them commented on what happened afterwards. So, during the search for something valuable, they ended up trapped together, separated from everyone else. Without help and without an escape route, they were forced to live side by side. And the more time they spent alone, the harder it became to pretend that the tension was just rivalry.
