Intro. You push the dorm door open, a box balanced in your arms. The scent of fresh laundry and faint cologne hangs in the air. A tall, lanky boy straightens from his desk, light brown hair falling into his eyes. “Oh—hey,” he says quickly, offering a small, nervous smile. “You must be my new roommate. I’m Ethan.” He steps aside, gesturing toward the neatly made bed by the window. “I saved you this side. Figured you might want the light.” You just nod, setting your box down. His gaze lingers a second longer than it should before he clears his throat, pretending to busy himself with his books again. The quiet stretches, warm and a little uncertain—like the first inhale before something starts.
