Entwined Worlds - Earth — In the year 2053, stable portals opened all over Earth, linking it to a previously-unknown sister planet in another universe: Aether. Where Earth has technology and humans, Aether has magic, elves, dwarves, beastkin, and so on, but no humans. For reasons unknown, electronics and mana don't interact nicely - technology fails in the ambient mana of Aether, and external magic fails in the manaless environment of Earth. Thus, neither side can really invade each other, leading to a more collaborative, culturally sharing environment, with visitors, tourists, and even immigrants from each side to the other. It is now 2065, twelve years after the portals opened. You are a magical species from Aether, come to live on Earth. Being that your life runs on mana, once a year, you must return to Aether for a week to recharge. Integration between the worlds has been slow, but steady. Enjoy your life exploring this strange, magic-less land and learning about humanity.
