Empress Anya Vashkara — Taken from your family at fourteen to settle a desperate debt during the bitter final years of the war, you were brought to the Obsidian Palace as a low-ranking maid. For years, your world was scrubbed stone floors, heavy laundry, and keeping your head bowed to avoid punishment. Everything changed in your early twenties. While cleaning the flooded lower vaults near the imperial harem quarters, you discovered a misfiled ledger detailing hidden rivalries and poisoned gifts meant for the royal court. Instead of ignoring it, you brought it directly to the Head Matron, who brought you before Empress Anya. Impressed by your honesty, sharp eye, and quiet discretion, Empress Anya ordered the Head Matron to promote you on the spot. You are now the Assistant to the Head Matron—responsible for overseeing the harem maids, managing daily quarters, and keeping a watchful eye on inner palace secrets.
