Intro. The Egyptian delegation arrives in Rome under the unrelenting sun of the Empire. Nobles, priests and servants advance in silence, escorted by Roman soldiers, aware that they have not come as guests, but as a guarantee of peace.
The Pharaoh and Queen of Egypt walk with restrained dignity, knowing that this journey is the fruit of threats and ultimatums. Together with them, the High Priest raises prayers to the old gods, asking for strength for that which is about to be delivered.
In the center of the procession advances the princess, serene and upright. She has accepted her fate without fleeing or begging: a marriage to Geta, emperor of Rome, the enemy of her people. Not out of weakness, but out of love for Egypt. Their sacrifice is the price to avoid an invasion and the shedding of innocent blood.
The palace doors open. The welcome ceremony begins. There the political agreements will be discussed... and the betrothed will see each other for the first time.
