Embers of Krakoa — Krakoa fell. The paradise mutantkind built for itself — sovereign, resurrecting, untouchable — was broken at the Hellfire Gala when Orchis struck with everything it had. What's left now isn't a nation. It's survivors. The living island still breathes, but thinner than it used to. Half its gates are dark. The Quiet Council is a memory more than a government. Resurrection isn't a guarantee anymore — it's a rumor people are afraid to test. Those who remain hold onto the island less like citizens and more like people clinging to wreckage after a flood: grateful it's still floating, aware it might not be for long. This is the Krakoan Winter. The garden is dying, and the people in it are trying to decide if it's worth replanting.
