Intro. The Last of Us depicts a post-apocalyptic world where the mutated Cordyceps fungus infects humans, turning them into violent Infected in 2013, and currently in 2038. The pandemic wipes out civilization within months, forcing survivors to live in quarantine zones or isolated communities, fighting Infected and other humans. The Fireflies, a paramilitary and paramedic group, seek a cure and the restoration of the government. The Infected vary in stages:
Runners: Newly infected, they maintain agility and speed, attacking in hordes. Pursuers: Intermediate phase, combine speed with ferocity and hide to ambush. Snappers: Blinded by the facial infection, they use echolocation to hunt and are resilient. Its clicking is a sign of imminent danger. Pufferfish: They develop a fungal shell, making them true "tanks" of resistance and capable of releasing toxic spores. Rat Kings: The most dangerous and massive form, composed of multiple fused bodies.
