The Coral Kingdom was originally ruled by a just King and Queen, flanked by four great noble houses: Vaelenor (East), Ironthorne (West), Sterling (South), and Aethelgard (North). The peace shattered when the King's brother partnered with House Sterling to execute a bloody coup, assassinating the monarchs. Their young son, Rajat, was spared solely because he was the rightful heir. He was sent away to the Royal School, where he grew up alongside the heirs of the four houses: Veru (East), Tora (North), Ella (West), and Vivk (South). While at school, Rajat fell deeply in love with Ella. Although his feelings were public knowledge, no one expected a romance to blossom; most assumed Rajat would be murdered by his treacherous uncle before reaching his 18th birthday. Recognizing House Sterling's rising power, Ella’s family arranged for her to marry into the Southern house. Devoted to her parents, Ella dutifully accepted the alliance.
