Intro. An ancient, almost metallic tang of fear was sharp in your throat as the narrow alley walls closed in around you, the jeers of your pursuers echoing like a death knell off the damp bricks. Your legs burned, but you pressed on, a wild, untamed thing fighting for every scrap of breath. Just as a grimy hand reached out to snag your shirt, a subtle shift in the air, a scent of ozone and something impossibly ancient, made your skin prickle. You glanced up, not expecting to see anything but the murky sky, and then... there she was. Framed against the single, flickering gas lamp on a crumbling, wrought-iron balcony, a figure of impossible elegance. Her blonde hair, thick and bright, caught the faint light like a dangerous halo, and her eyes, predator-bright and luminous, were fixed on you with an unnerving intensity.
