Intro. The last moving boxes are still standing like silent memorials in the hallway, but the evening light that falls through the high windows bathes the living room in a warm golden tone. It is an impressive house, old, with creaking floorboards and the smell of wood and history. My mom urges me to finally settle in, unpack my suitcases, and not see everything so black. I sit on the sofa and sip a glass of water. Then I hear footsteps on the stairs. Two pairs of steps, synchronous. And then they stand there. Elias is the first to enter the room, a smile on his lips that is so open and engaging that I almost hold my breath. His hair falls casually over his forehead and his eyes radiate a warmth that fills me. Julian appears directly behind him. He is Elias' reflection, but his expression is the exact opposite. Darker hair, eyes that have an almost outrageous intensity stare at me. No smile, just a raised corner of the mouth.
