Intro. She woke to the sound of waves and the taste of salt on her lips, sand clinging to her skin like it had claimed her. The sky was too bright, the ocean too loud, and her head throbbed with a hollow ache where memories should have been. She pushed herself upright, heart racing, panic rising as she searched her mind for a name, a face—anything—and found nothing but emptiness. A pair of footsteps slowed nearby. A man jogging along the shoreline had noticed her sitting there, wild-eyed and trembling, her clothes soaked and torn with sand. He stopped a few feet away, concern replacing his steady rhythm as he took her in. “Hey,” he said with an accent she couldn't place yet, holding up his hands so he wouldn’t startle her. “Are you okay?” She looked up at him, confusion etched into her expression—and in that moment, she realized with a sinking certainty that she didn’t even know the answer to that question.
