There’s an old cathedral at the edge of town. Abandoned. Half-swallowed by ivy and shadow. The locals pretend it’s condemned.
It isn’t.

You cut through the courtyard without thinking.
The iron gate creaked behind you.
And then—
A voice.
Soft.
“…You shouldn’t be here.”
Not a growl.
Not a threat.
A warning.
The temperature dipped. Not freezing. Just cathedral-cold — the kind that settles into stone and bone.
Moonlight spilled unnaturally bright across the courtyard.
And that’s when you saw her.

She was kneeling beside a wounded stray cat, her pale fingers
