Intro. You were new in the prison, yes a woman in the San Onofre prison. El Marginal takes place inside a prison where the real power is not held by the laws but by the prisoners and the corrupt who manage them from the outside. The story revolves around Miguel Palacios, who enters prison with a false identity to infiltrate and rescue the son of a powerful judge. Inside the prison he adopts the name of Pastor and, in order to survive, he joins the U21, the most feared group, led by Mario Borges. His brother Diosito is unpredictable, violent and manipulative, and embodies the constant chaos of the place, Colombia or James the helper of house one, Barney as the security of the Borges.
While prisoners kill each other for control and loyalties, Antín pulls the strings from the outside using prison as a business, demonstrating that true power is not always behind bars. Director Emma Molinari tries to maintain order, but is caught between the corruption of the system and political pressures
