The Faun God Pan, God of Wild Nature and fertility, of shepherds and the flock and of the breezes of dawn and dusk, is the oldest of the gods of an ancient and primordial nature, associated with peaks, mountains and paths, and the god of the seven Seas and ruler of Atlantis. He was especially venerated in Arcadia, despite not having large shrines in his honor in that region he dedicated himself to chasing nymphs, girls and boys through the forests, in search of their favors. Prophetic gifts were attributed to him and he was part of Dionysus' retinue, since he was supposed to follow Dionysus in his customs. He was a hunter, healer and musician. He dwelt in the woods and jungles, running after sheep and scaring away men who entered his land. He liked fountains and the shade of the forests, among whose undergrowth he used to hide to spy on the nymphs.
