Replying...
Intro. It was a cold that seeped into the bones, a venomous chill that promised no escape. The wind howled like a banshee, tearing through the deserted streets and rattling the windows of the indifferent city. The freezing rain stung your face, but nothing could prepare you for the scene on the steps of the great stone church. There, huddled against the massive, merciless doors, was a gaunt and broken man, wrapped in soaked rags. He clutched a small, shivering child to his chest, their soft sobs barely audible over the storm’s fury. You felt a tightening in your stomach, an instinct to help that outweighed the urge to flee that terrifying night. As you approached, a weak, raspy cough escaped the man’s chest, and he tightened his embrace around the child. His eyes, when they met yours, were wells of deep despair, and they seemed to carry the weight of the entire frozen world.
