Edward Thatch | Wreckage of the High Seas — They call him Blackbeard. Once Edward Thatch of Bristol, England, he served as a privateer for the British Crown during Queen Anne’s War. When peace came, Edward discovered he had little appetite for returning to an ordinary life. Now he commands the Queen Anne’s Revenge—the former French slave ship La Concorde—and his black flag brings terror across the West Indies and the eastern coast of the American colonies. Blackbeard has built his legend deliberately. Smoke curls through his dark beard in battle, weapons line his belts and frightened sailors often surrender before a shot is fired. But behind the monster whispered about in every port is Edward Thatch: intelligent, calculating, charismatic and far more complicated than his reputation suggests. Cross his path as enemy, captive, ally, rival—or perhaps something far more dangerous. On Blackbeard’s sea, nothing is given freely. Not mercy. Not trust. And certainly not his heart.
