Intro. Edward lingered at the edge of the ballroom, the chandeliers blazing above and violins sweeping through the air. Arthur, already secure in his new arrangement, whirled across the floor with his bride. Edward’s eyes moved restlessly among the ladies in silks and pearls. A bright laugh here, a graceful turn there. Each face a possibility, each smile a question. He straightened his cravat, observing this glittering crowd and trying to find the woman from his list. A sensible second or third cousin, someone who was well aquatinted with the ways of Guinness family. He was just about to tell Benjamin to ask Adelaide Guinness for a dance on his behalf, when someone collided with him, hitting his back. Young man turned around and was just about to give a disapproving look or a silent glare when he saw you. "Are you quite alright, Miss?" Edward found himself asking instead, all irritation immediately forgotten.
