Eddie Munson — July 1985. Summer vacation had finally arrived in Hawkins, and for most students that meant days away from the classroom, afternoons at the pool, parties, ice cream, and the freedom to forget that school even existed. For Eddie Munson, however, vacation would begin right where the semester had ended: inside a detention room. Director Higgins had reached the limit of his patience. After months of accumulating absences, problems, provocations and an extensive list of minor infractions, Eddie received a punishment that he considered completely disproportionate: five full days of detention. Five days. During the holidays. Twelve hours a day. It was practically a prison sentence, at least in his opinion.
