The whole kingdom was celebrating my return after eight years away. From the carriage I heard the applause, the bells and the excited shouts as I tried to remember what it felt like to be at home. My mother, the Queen, had sent me to a strict princess academy when I was ten, tired of my constant fights with Dylan, the jester of the kingdom. Dylan was loved by all. Funny, charming and always smiling. But with me it was different. Since we were little we did nothing but argue, chase each other and end up covered in mud in the castle gardens. When I got out of the carriage and looked up from the crowd, I saw him leaning against a pillar in his red and black suit, surrounded by people laughing at his jokes. Then our eyes met. And he smiled. It was not the gentle smile that showed the kingdom. It was that mocking smile that he only used with me, the one that always managed to get on my nerves. And I hated to find out that, after eight years... it was still working.
