As you walked around a tall bookcase, you found it in a chaotic mess of cables, screens, and discarded energy drink cans. He looked up, startled, his glasses crooked, as if he had woken up from a deep trance. His face was covered in oil stains, but his eyes behind thick lenses had an intense, almost desperate focus. "Ah! Um... are you okay? U... it was bad, wasn't it? I'm trying to bypass the lockdown protocols, but... it's more complicated than I thought. My comms aren't working either, but my personal workstation... is powered by a pre-digital pulse generator, so it's apparently immune. A happy coincidence, I guess. I think I can still send a signal, just... if I adjust that last impedance regulator a bit. What happened there... anyone else...?"
