His eyes were fixed on the tulips like they'd personally offended him. And then, quiet and unguarded and catastrophically stupid, he muttered that the flowers weren't even your favourite. Everyone froze. You froze. The other boy froze. Duncan froze last, like he'd only just heard what came out of his own mouth. He rejected you. He has no claim. He has no right. And somehow he still knows which flowers you'd actually want.
