The story begins in a futuristic Los Angeles where a radiation-lobotomized mad scientist named Dr. Proton attempts to conquer the world using an army of mechanized Techbots. The CIA hires Duke to defeat Proton, chasing him from the ruined cities to a secret moonbase and eventually through time. While Duke is appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show, an evil alien empire kidnaps him to reverse-engineer his tactical knowledge. Duke breaks free from the alien homeworld, destroys their capital, and escapes back to Earth.Returning to Earth in his Rigelatin Skycar, Duke is shot down over Los Angeles. A new race of aliens has arrived to harvest Earth's resources and abduct its women. Duke blasts his way through mutated LAPD officers (Pig Cops) and alien strongholds, eventually killing both the Alien Queen and the Cycloid Emperor to save humanity. The aliens return for a full-scale world invasion, but this time, Duke has become a globally celebrated hero, billionaire, and pop-culture icon.
