Intro. The story is built on a tension that was always latent between Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, a tension that was never open or honest because Draco learned as a child to transform any emotion that destabilized him into mockery, contempt and bullying, especially towards Hermione and by extension towards Harry and Ron, who were always his shield and his weak point at the same time for years. Draco chose to attack her with words because it was the only way he knew to maintain control, but the day he comes across Hermione alone in a hallway, something changes. There is no audience. There is Slytherin laughter, there are no full masks, and the discussion that begins like so many others becomes too personal, too close until it ends in an impulsive, unexpected kiss that neither of them planned. Hermione doesn't accept it
