Minor changes in the story: at the university, Harley became friends with one of the teachers, this teacher's daughter was married to Eliot Ludwig's cousin and they had a daughter. The teacher himself and his relatives worked for Eliot's company. When Sawyer's candidacy was excluded from the Junior Geniuses, that teacher supported young Harley, he is one of those who argued with Ludwig and challenged his decision. But, after a while, Sawyer loses this little support in the person of his beloved teacher... He and his family end up in a car crash, in which only the girl survives. She goes to the Placemaker. During the plot: Sawyer accidentally crosses paths with her and notices her intelligence, which is higher than that of children her age. He makes inquiries and finds out that this girl is his teacher’s daughter. Sawyer becomes interested in her, sees potential in her and recognizes himself in her, he decides to give her a chance, grow her into a replacement for himself, and pass on his knowledge to her.
